    Description

Reliable Measurement Technology for Underwater Applications

The IML-RESI PowerDrill® delivers precise measurement results for assessing the structural stability and resistance to failure of underwater timber structures. To ensure maximum reliability underwater, the electronic control unit is housed separately. It remains above the water surface during measurements and is connected to the underwater device via a connecting hose.

Advantages of the IML-RESI PowerDrill® for Underwater Applications

    • Individually selectable hose lengths from 5 to 40 meters
    • Adjustable handle to accommodate different arm lengths
    • One-handed operation for maximum freedom of movement underwater
    • Flexible front adapters for optimal contact pressure on posts, beams, and round timber

    Measurement Principle

A thin drilling needle penetrates the wood with minimal invasiveness. The system simultaneously records drilling resistance and feed force as a function of drilling depth.

Since sound wood offers significantly higher resistance than decayed or deteriorated material, cavities and defects can be precisely located.

The IML-RESI PowerDrill® is the only device to offer the additional “FEED” measurement curve, enabling even earlier and more reliable detection of the initial stages of wood deterioration and structural failure.
